There are walking trails that go around the island which are frequented by locals and their dogs. A local artist, Rick Goyette, has gone in and carved faces into the part of some of the trees. They are not polar bears, or albino, but in fact black bears which have genetic differences, making them white. They believe that about 1/10 black mom will have a white cub.
